What is Breathwork

When was the last time that you took a deep breath? Most of us have forgotten how to breathe properly. Generally, our breathing tends to be shallow chest breathing. This is especially so when we are stressed with juggling the demands of daily life, when we are faced with uncertainty about money, health, career or relationships. In the long run, our body becomes tense and tight and we are affected physically, mentally and emotionally.

Breathwork (Rebirthing) is a simple breathing technique using deep conscious connected breathing. Developed in the early 70's by Leonard Orr, it has been practiced by many thousands of people throughout the world. It is a practical and safe process to release stress and tension and makes you more aware of yourself, release patterns that are no longer serving you and teaches you to let go of control and learn to TRUST.

Breathwork brings into awareness not only our unconsciously held beliefs and emotions but also the relationships we have with our bodies, ourselves, our intimates and our world. Essential to Breathwork is the idea that Thought Is Creative. We create life experience through our thoughts, both conscious and unconscious. When we consciously breathe with this awareness, we make it possible to resolve, integrate and heal previously unresolved issues within ourselves. This frees up energy, bringing greater aliveness and joy and allowing us to move towards fulfillment of our potential as human beings.

The process is a safe and gentle way of reversing personal limitations. It is not a religion, nor a therapy, nor a cure. It is a powerful healing technique which is suitable for adults and children.
